Together with Falu Energi & Vatten, EcoDataCenter has secured access to 80 MW of renewable electricity to the data center in Falun. The power supply will enable the future expansion of the facility’s capacity.
In a joint project with Ellevio and Falu Energi & Vatten, EcoDataCenter has invested approximately SEK 50 million to complete the power supply for the data center. The secured access to 80 MW enables the facility’s expansion to its full capacity.
The data center is integrated with Falu Energi & Vatten in a unique solution for efficient heat recovery, and the surplus heat is used for biofuel production. Given that EcoDataCenter is now expanding its capacity, this will generate more heat that can be used in the district heating network.
“We see it as very positive for Falun that EcoDataCenter is financing this project and continuing the expansion of the facility. This will enable us to reuse even more surplus heat in the future, which will benefit both the people of Falun and the environment”, says Per Dahlberg, CEO, Falu Energi & Vatten.
The secured access to renewable energy strengthens the company’s offering of sustainable data center services. The increased capacity allows EcoDataCenter to offer both new and existing customers the ability to rapidly scale up their data center solutions.
“We are delighted with the excellent cooperation with Falu Energi & Vatten. Together, we have secured important conditions for the climate and the future. Now we can grow and allow even more companies to choose sustainable data center services,” Dan Andersson, CEO EcoDataCenter, concludes.

About the cooperation
The cooperation between EcoDataCenter and Falu Energi & Vatten concerns strengthening the power grid between Borlänge and Falun. The project is financed by EcoDataCenter and carried out with Falu Energi & Vatten. The reinforcement means a more stable power grid, which gives Falu municipality increased energy capacity while EcoDataCenter can expand. The growth of EcoDataCenter will, in turn, allow Falu Energi & Vatten to recover more residual heat from the data centers.
