The owner of EcoDataCenter, Areim, has successfully closed its Nordic data center fund, Areim DC Fund, with EUR 446 million in committed capital from leading institutional investors. The capital will be used to enable further growth and drive the green transition within the data center industry through EcoDataCenter.
Data usage in society is rapidly increasing and expected to grow by 300% over the next five years, driven by the 5G rollout, the emergence of AI, and a rising number of connected products and services. Across Europe, data centers are being constructed swiftly to meet demand, often lacking circularity and environmental requirements. EcoDataCenter's mission is to build the foundation of our digital society as sustainably as possible.
"The capital will enable us to execute our strategy of delivering more sustainable data center services to clients and to become a leading data center company in the Nordics," says Dan Andersson, CEO of EcoDataCenter.
Headquartered in Falun, Sweden, EcoDataCenter operates one of the world's most sustainable data centers. The company recently announced the development of a new large data center campus in Sweden to provide clients with further growth opportunities.
“We see an increased interest in the data center sector in the Nordics, supported by the strong digitalisation trend but also by the attractive characteristics of the Nordic market. With our newly established fund, we have the opportunity to support the green transition within the industry, through EcoDataCenter, to meet society's needs today and in the future,” says Therese Norling, Fund Manager, Areim.
