The idea about a circular system with the data center as the heartbeat started to evolve.
The idea that we are only in the beginning of the digitalization and that the society needs to think how datacenters are to be built quickly gained pace.
Together with the local power company in Falun we started to explore a datacenter in symbiosis with the pellets factory.
We finally form the company ECODC AB. The idea, concept and timing was finally right.
In 2018 the independent fund manager Areim became majority owner of EcoDataCenter.
In 2019 we acquired the data center operator Fortlax and it's data centers, located in Piteå. An important part of our offering for high perfomance computing because of the sites location in probably the greenest electricity grid in the world.
In 2020, we got our biggest proof of concept. BMW GROUP became our largest customer to date.
Our thinking was approved by the best minds in the business.
At the DCD Awards our circular thinking on how the data center should function as one with society won the category "Best Design".
We signed the world's leading company in digital translation, The AI driven translation service DeepL.
